DOUGLAS BATES APPOINTED DATABASE EDITOR
Douglas Bates of the University of Wisconsin has been appointed Database Editor of the Current Index to Statistics. Doug has been involved with CIS since 1992, when he wrote one of the first implementations of search software for the then-new CIS Extended Database. Since then he has served two terms on the CIS Management Committee. He is also well known for his work on nonlinear modeling and for his contributions to the R statistical package and other open-source computing projects.
Doug brings both statistical and computational expertise to his new role and we look forward to many improvements in the CIS products.
