FOUR-STATION LICENSES NOW MAY OBTAIN ACCESS TO WEB QUERY SITE
Licensees with four-station licenses are now allowed to obtain access through the CIS Web Query Site. This site gives access to the entire CIS/ED database. Because it is updated throughout the year, it will often include items that have not yet been distributed on the CDROM release. Many users have also appreciated the convenience of not having to install the database on their own computer.
Access under these licenses must be restricted in conformity with the scope of the license. The four-station license authorizes connection from four single-user computers, such as personal computers or workstations that are used by a single person at a time. Therefore, to obtain Web access you will provide the IP names or numbers of four specific nodes. Multi-user systems or proxy servers are not permitted under the four-station license. The licensed nodes must be used by a person who is physically seated at that computer. The four-station limit applies to the totality of nodes obtaining access either through the Web or by direct installation from the CDROM.
For specifics on the procedure for obtaining access, see the access request information page.
