SITE SWITCHOVER; APPOINTMENT OF DATABASE EDITORS
Site switchover
We have switched the CIS Web server site from its former location at the University of Wisconsin to a new site at the Department of Statistics, Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. The site functionality and addresses should be the same as before now that the switchover is complete. The CMU site also has a new mail server for announcements (the cis-announce mailing list). Please see instructions for subscribing so you can receive occasional announcements.
Editorial appointments
David James of Bell Laboratories has been appointed Database Editor of the Current Index to Statistics. David has been very involved in open source software projects and is the past chair of the ASA Section on Statistical Graphics. David's term officially began on January 1, 2004 when he succeeded former Database Editor Douglas Bates. We appreciate the outstanding contribution that Doug Bates brought to the computational infrastructure of CIS and look forward to further development under David's leadership.
Pantelis Vlachos of Carnegie Mellon University has been appointed Associate Database Editor of CIS. Pantelis will assume primary responsibility for maintenance of the web server and mailing lists, and development of new search functions. Pantelis is already active in professional service through his responsibilities for CMU's Statlib site and statistical mailing lists.
